Dessert Demo – Rice Krispie Treats

This is a dessert almost everyone enjoys, and is easy to make on a camping trip.

For Patrol (24 treats), gather:

• 6 cups Rice Krispie cereal
• 3 Tablespoons margarine or butter
• 4 – 6 cups miniature marshmallows
• (Optional) ½ cup miniature candy coated chocolate pieces
• Unflavored cooking spray

For Individual Demo Tonight (4 treats), gather:

• 1 cup Rice Krispie cereal
• 1 Tablespoon margarine or butter
• 1 cup miniature marshmallows
• (Optional) a small handful of miniature candy coated chocolate pieces
• Unflavored cooking spray

Recipe

1. Sprinkle It: Coat flat pan with cooking spray (use baking sheet, pie tin, metal plates or aluminum foil). Spread candy evenly over surface.
2. Melt It: Melt margarine or butter in saucepan over low heat, Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted
3. Mix It: Add Rice Krispies and stir until well coated (or mix in separate bowl). Press mixture over candy. Let cool to room temperature. Cut into squares.

Tips

Coat all cooking utensils with cooking spray.

You find it easier to pour marshmallows over Rice Krispies using a separate bowl coated with cooking spray.

You can press the mixture with utensils or your hands (coat hands with spray).

You can press mixture into almost any container as long as it is coated with spray.
