Welcome to Camp Wanocksett, the centerpiece of Nashua Valley Council's summer camping programs. Since 1924 Scouts have enjoyed summers on the shores of Thorndike Pond, learning skills and values for a lifetime. Today, Camp Wanocksett continues its proud tradition of strengthening the values of Scouting in the young men who pass through our gates.

NOTICE TO UNIT LEADERS AND VISITORS TO CAMP WANOCKSETT
Effective immediately, Nashua Valley Council is requesting that visitors to Camp Wanocksett not bring outside firewood into the camp. An infestation of Asian Longhorn Beetles in central Worcester County has prompted the USDA and Massachusetts DCR to impose a quarantine prohibiting the transport of natural wood materials (e.g., twigs, branches, trunks, logs, stumps, etc.) from several communities in central Worcester Country. For more details on this quarantine please visit: http://www.ci.worcester.ma.us/cmo/beetles.htm Asian Longhorn Beetles are an invasive and destructive species that cause significant damage to hardwood forests. Transporting firewood is one means for these beetles and other invasive pests to migrate.
To aid in the containment of this infestation, and to protect the beauty of Camp Wanocksett, Nashua Valley Council requests that no outside firewood be brought to Camp Wancoskett. There is an ample supply of locally cut firewood available at the camp for the use of weekend visitors. Unit leaders and visitors, are asked to assist in this effort by leaving firewood at home. |

Many readers have probably heard that sometime last winter a tree fell causing significant damage to the high ropes course at Camp Wanocksett. Volunteers from the Project COPE Committee have been working through the Spring and Summer to repair the damage with the goal of reopening the course in time for weekend programs this Fall. To speed up the work the Project COPE committee is looking for access to a lift or bucket truck capable of reaching 45-50 feet. This would enable the committee to complete the repairs to the highest portions of the course more quickly. Anyone with access to such equipment is asked to contact the Project COPE committee at:
