Crawford Notch State Park Hiking Trip

June 8 – 10, 2007

Hiking and camping in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Activities:

Camp at the Crawford Notch State ParkDry River campground” and hike the Arethusa – Ripley Falls trail.  Leadership permitting, older scouts may have the opportunity to work on trail camping skills while younger scouts can enjoy a more relaxed camping experience and work on advancements.

Who may attend:

Scouts (all ages and ranks, with advance registration) and adults.

Location:

Meet at:

Troop Room, Friday June 8 at 5:30 PM. Have an early dinner at home, and bring a snack for the car.

Dress:

Class A uniform shirts & troop hats while traveling.  This is a New England late spring camping trip, so be prepared for cold weather, warm weather, and rainy weather!  Check your handbook, and pack sensibly. This is a backpacking trip, hiking boots are necessary. Younger scouts need day packs, and older scouts need overnight backpacks.  If you don’t have one, they can be rented, but you need to see Mr. Doud ahead of time). You may bring a personal supply of appropriate trail snacks (trail mix, bars, etc),but do NOT bring candy.

Est. Return Time:

Sunday, June 10th, approximately 3:00 PM.  Scouts will be driven home.

Signed permission slip due at the troop meeting May 29, 2007 

Event Cost:

$50 Due at Troop Meeting, May 29, 2007. 

Food Cost:

Included in Event Cost.

In your pocket:

Scouts may want to have spending money available to purchase snacks on the ride home.

My son (name) ________________________________________________ has my permission for full participation in the program.  I have read the above information and understand the conditions and objectives of this trip. I waive all claims against the leaders, the troop or the Boy Scouts of America.  In case of emergency, I request that measures be instituted without delay as judgment of the unit leader and/or authorized medical personnel dictates for either my son or myself (if attending).  I have alerted the leaders of any special dietary needs or medical requirements. I have made my son(s) aware that attending any activity is a privilege.  He may attend this activity only if good scout spirit is shown (See Scout Handbook).  My son may not be able to attend an activity if vehicle space is limited based upon:    1) Recent Scout spirit, 2) Rank, or 3) Level of parental involvement in Troop 114.
